Julie T. Anné, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Eating Disorder Specialist. She is the Co-Creator and Director of TheHealthyWeighOut, LLC and the Founder and Clinical Director of its sister organization, A New Beginning, LLC, an innovative outpatient treatment center specializing in the comprehensive care of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder), depression, anxiety, trauma, and marital/relationship issues.
For the past 25 years, Dr. Anné has enthusiastically guided her clients out of a place of emotional confinement and into a space of emotional enthusiasm. Fiercely committed to the healing process of each client, Dr. Anné brings her unique brand of passion, compassion and artistic therapeutic skill to her life-changing work with individuals struggling to overcome emotionally debilitating disorders and problematic eating behavior.
A nationally recognized eating disorder and emotional eating specialist, Dr. Anné’s work is frequently featured in the media. Recently, “Dr. Julie” had the honor of working with the cast of abc’s Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. Additionally, Dr. Anné was featured as one of three nationally-recognized eating disorder specialists in E! Network’s 2010 critically-acclaimed documentary series, “What’s Eating You.” Currently, Dr. Anné serves as a Health Expert in the area of eating disorders and body-image on the Medical Advisory Board of EmpowHER Media.
In 2014, Dr. Anné co-created TheHealthyWeighOut, a groundbreaking three-pronged outpatient program that integrates the essential interrelated Emotional, Nutritional and Physical fitness components necessary for effective, sustainable treatment of compulsive overeating, emotional eating, binge eating disorder and associated weight-related and obesity issues.
While Dr. Anné enjoys a broad range of clinical duties, her primary love is the art of psychotherapy. An esteemed clinician, Dr. Anné combines a unique therapeutic foundation steeped in psychological theory, science and research with creative, expressive, and transformational therapeutic techniques. Dr. Anné believes that when the goal of therapy is to not only identify — but to fully resolve — the underlying issues that have given rise to disorder, complete and lasting change is possible!
Dr. Anné has a special affinity for working with anorexic, bulimic and binge eating disordered clients and especially enjoys working with “late-in-life” eating disordered individuals, aged 35-75. In addition, Dr. Anné works extensively with clients struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, the aftereffects of psychological trauma, dysfunctional family-of-origin history and with couples seeking to regain a sense of lost joy in their relationship.
A passionate spokesperson and “Inspirational Advocate for the Therapeutic Healing Process,” Dr. Anné is frequently asked to speak on the topic of eating disorders and enjoys utilizing writing, blogging, public speaking and media opportunities to motivate, educate and inspire others. It is with this spirit, that Dr. Anné was given the Gratitude for Giving “Spirit” award in 2010.
Dr. Anné received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology – San Diego and her bachelor’s degree and doctoral clinical training from Arizona State University. Dr. Anne is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Binge Eating Disorder Association. Dr. Anné has been board licensed in the state of Arizona since 1993.
